While exploring the inner workings of Embarcardero center, I came across this hidden gem. Photogs are always looking for abstracts architecture and so I was delighted to find this one. However I would be curious to revisit it at different time of the day to see how the shadows play with it.

While at Fisherman's Wharf there are several marinas, walking about the area with give you many chances to shoot the boats there, providing an excellent chance to capture the water and the pretty scenery of the boats all lined up.

This is Stow Lake which can be found in the Golden Gate park. I originally went thinking I'll get many shots but I was overwhelmed at how large and expansive this place was and walking it seemed to much giving all my camera gear I had with me. I'd like to revisit this place with a bike so I can get around and truly explore it as I believe its ripe with opportunities for a photog.

I used black glass, setup my camera on a tripod to capture the movement of this fountain I found at the Embarcadero center, which was on a very bright day around noon. I opted to focus on just this portion as its quite a big fountain which seemed too busy for my taste.

The USS Pampanito. I don't come across many submarines but this one was decorated and rightly so as it had seen a lot of action in WWII and had done many 'clean sweeps'. This one seemed to be one of the more ingenious and modernized subs of its time, for $12 you can climb on board and look at it closely.

The USS Pampanito and a broomstick at the very top of the conning tower, which was as a tribute to its crew signalling it had done a clean sweep when returned home to refuel. A feat not easy to accomplish but this one had done and returned home many times and hence remains at Fisherman's Wharf as a sign of victory. Back in 1942 there was paranoia that the Japanese would invade so they kept submarines nearby just in case. Watch a movie called '1942' with Jim Belushi which will give you a bit of history about this situation.

I don't know what it means but seeing womens legs hanging outside a window has to be unique. An area of town that certainly thrives and offers lots of unusual things even if its not your cup of tea if so worth a laugh to visit, walk around, sit at a cafe, enjoy time pass by. One thing I noticed, that I really liked is, mom and pop cafe shops are every where, and places like mcdonalds, burger king or other fast food places are very rare and i get the impression frowned upon as this is a culture that thrives and preaches organic, healthy living life styles. I don't know is smoking is healthy but food wise it certainly and that's one thing that's very prevalent in this town.

For some odd reason I really like palm trees, perhaps its because it reminds me of the coast and beaches. This part of town had them lined up. I highly recommend stopping by embarcardero center as its bustling with entertainers and many artists selling pictures of golden gate.

Chinatown is a must see place, packed with tourists. Many little shops selling trinkets, souvenirs and other goods. Even up close the 24-70mm lens offers an amazing example of its flexibility to capture both far and near with stunning sharpness, a lens I highly recommend, ideal for walking about.

This was in a part of the city known as little Italy which is covered from corner to corner with Italian restaurants and one of them has a Mona Lisa mini cooper where it sits two for a romantic dinner. Personally not sure about it,as cars would be driving right by you blowing exhaust fumes into your dinner plate. Perhaps a gimmick.

I made a black and white but kept the red colors on the towers and applied a vertical tilt shift effect in post.

I used an ND 3.0 filter to shoot in bnight daylight and exposed for 96 seconds which smoothed out the waters.

Another scenic view of the Golden Gate bridge with the clouds and fog adding drama to the scene.

Taken from treasure island, I wanted to create a panorama of the city and with a clear night I could not have asked for better weather.

A beautiful sunrise at hawk hill, watching the fog roll in. There are several scenic views on hawk hill, but if you go to the furthest point up hill you'll get the widest view. However there is a hiking trail that takes you even further up.
